We\u2019ve been brewing a lot of new stuff lately, so now time has come to draw some conclusions\u00a0 and tell you something about what came out from\u00a0our latest collaboration brews<\/strong>! Some of them has already been officially presented \u2013\u00a0Reale in Kilt\u00a0and\u00a0Etrusca\u00a0\u2013 while one will be only available in UK until 11\/11 \u2013 we\u2019re talking about\u00a0Tutto Fa Brodo, already a big success in the\u00a0JDWetherspoon\u2019s pubs<\/strong>! And we ourselves, we can\u2019t wait to taste the final result of super-collaboration beer made during the event I\u00a0Giorni dell\u2019IPA<\/a>!<\/p>\n

So let\u2019s start fro\u00a0 the\u00a0Etrusca<\/strong>, that was launched at\u00a0Open Baladin Roma\u00a0<\/a>,\u00a0Petit Baladin<\/strong>\u00a0in Turin and than at the\u00a0\u00a0Slow Food Salone del Gusto<\/strong>\u00a0featuring the three\u00a0Birreria Bros<\/em>\u00a0and their own versions of the beer.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s really something unique: as we used unusual ingredients (fo a beer) and most of all an unusual fermentation system (the amphoras!),\u00a0the result is a real \u201carcheological find\u201d<\/strong>. The\u00a0amber colour<\/strong>\u00a0reminds the amphora-aged wines; the nose gives scents of\u00a0honey and berries<\/strong>\u00a0and quite uncommon\u00a0mineral notes<\/strong>. When you taste it,\u00a0sharpness<\/strong>\u00a0is the main feature, and the honey notes are quickly followed by mineral ones, again.<\/p>\n

So, the few ones who will have the chance to taste this extremely rare beer (which has been made in a very limited quantity, of course) will be able to say that he had a\u00a0sip of history<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

As much \u201cextreme\u201d as Etrusca, but in its own \u2013 more\u00a0modern<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 way, is\u00a0Reale in Kilt<\/strong>\u00a0we made in collaboration with\u00a0Brewdog<\/a>\u00a0right after celebrating\u00a0BdB Day 2012<\/a>. As we already mentioned, it\u2019s the first step of our brand new project\u00a0\u201cWhat if Reale was born in\u2026 \u201c<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

How would our first beer have tasted if it was born elsewhere? Let\u2019s try to imagine it modifying ingredients or techniques according to different countries or regions, as if the beer had originally been born there. \u201cDressing it up\u201d in a different way from time to time but always respecting its core origin.<\/p>\n

In this specific case, the project obviously started from\u00a0Scotland<\/strong>. Some changes were made toBirra del Borgo\u2019s full-bodied and intensely hopped Pale Ale<\/strong>, to give it a definite Scottish vibe.Pale Ale Marris Otter<\/strong>\u00a0(one of the finest English varieties\u2019 barley malt) and some\u00a0peated malt<\/strong>(the one usually used to make Whisky) were added to the classic malts used for ReAle, together with a\u00a0Scottish warm-fermentation yeast<\/strong>. The beer then spent meny months in a wooden vat to accentuate the roasted taste.
\nRicher and more alcoholic than the \u201cstandard\u201d Reale, it will seduce you with its peated and slightly smokey nose and its velvet body.<\/p>\n

At the end, we give you some anticipation about the beer we brewed during the\u00a0Giorni dell \u2018IPA\u00a0<\/strong>event together with our Italian fellow brewers from\u00a0Brewfist, Opperbacco and Toccalmatto<\/strong>. We cant\u2019t tell you more \u2013 not even the name! \u2013 as it is still fermenting, but it will be something not to be missed: golden colour: inspired by a\u00a0classic British IPA,<\/strong>\u00a0using\u00a0Marris Otter<\/strong>\u00a0malts among the others, and British hops (Fuggle ed East Kent Golding<\/strong>) il will be a round and important body, a rich hoppy nose and an\u00a0intense \u2013 yet balanced \u2013 bitterness<\/strong>.
