At the beginning of June our\u00a0head-brewer Andrea<\/strong>\u00a0flew to the US for the\u00a0Philadelphia Beer week<\/a>, to meet beer lovers and beer experts from the New World. Here you can read his report of this full and funny week (pictures by Giovanna Palleschi).<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

On the occasion of the \u201cPhilly Beer Week\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0I wento to the New World to undertake\u00a0a short but<\/strong>\u00a0intense tour between Philadelphia and New York<\/strong>. The week was full of nice encatounters and meeting with beer lovers, breweries visits and \u2013 as long as I was there \u2013 also a special brew at\u00a0Eataly NY<\/a>.<\/p>\n

First stop was in\u00a0Philadelphia<\/strong>\u00a0where my fellow-brewers and friends\u00a0Palli<\/strong>\u00a0(of\u00a0Baladin<\/a>) and\u00a0Moreno<\/strong>\u00a0(l\u2019Olmaia<\/a>) and I, we had been invited for a guided tasting called \u201cItalian Beer School<\/strong>\u201d at the welcoming\u00a0The Farmers\u2019 Cabinet<\/a>. There we could meet some true Italian craft beer lovers, who were eager to taste our beers served with tasty snacks and cheeses. On this occasion we decided to introduce our\u00a0Genziana<\/a>,\u00a0Duchessic<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Reale Anniversario,<\/a>\u00a0all of them in good form. The evening went on in the same venue, where\u00a0 the owner\u00a0Matt Scheller<\/strong>\u00a0had prepared different stands of typical Italian recipes to match with our draft beers: the result was that all of us Italian brewers couls meet our most loyal supporters and customers in Philly in a very pleasant atmosphere.<\/p>\n

On the following day, always with Moreno and Palli, we visited the\u00a0Victory Brewery<\/a>, not far from Philadelphia, where we met\u00a0Steve German<\/strong>\u00a0(the brewery\u2019s vice-president), a very nice and hospitable guy who guided us to the brewery and let us taste its beers (and they were all really nice!).<\/p>\n

After the visit we came back to Philadelphia for another evening that was organized by our\u00a0 U.S. importer,\u00a0B.United<\/a>. This time the selected location was\u00a0Alla Spina,\u00a0a wonderful venue which has a very enjoyable atmosphere till late (or maybe I should say, till very early in tne morning)<\/p>\n

We then moved to\u00a0New York<\/strong>\u00a0where, thanks to\u00a0Michael Opalesky<\/strong>\u00a0(our area manager) we could visit many of the Big Apple\u2019s venues where you can find our beers on tap. But last day in New York was mostly dedicated to meet again my friend\u00a0Peter Hepp<\/strong>\u00a0(who succeeded to Brooks at\u00a0Eataly New York<\/strong>\u00a0microbrewery) and\u00a0we brewed together a very weird beer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Actually we wanter do make a\u00a0<\/strong>nice, golden IPA<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>to be fermented with a Belgian yeast and we wanted to use also some\u00a0unmalted hard wheat<\/strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0But as we couldn\u2019t find it, we decided to buy at the Eataly grocery\u00a0two good kilos of pasta<\/strong>\u00a0to add during the mashing.<\/p>\n

Once we finished the brew I had to say hello to\u00a0\u201cthe city that never sleeps\u201d<\/em>\u00a0to go back to the Old Continent.\u00a0 I was feeling quite tired for all the kilometers covered, but nevertheless I was\u00a0 felling so happy for all the\u00a0beautiful people I could meet.<\/strong><\/p>\n
