You could say it was destined \u2013 take a look at the two logos, both taking inspiration by something ancient with a modern key\u00a0 \u2013 that sooner or later\u00a0Birra del Borgo<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Brewdog<\/a>\u00a0street would cross.<\/p>\n

But the \u201chistoric mood\u201d logos are not the only thing we share with the Scottish brewery which is famous for its\u00a0extreme esperimentations<\/a>\u00a0and for being the champion of the European\u00a0craft beer revolution<\/em>. You could call it \u201cfeeling\u201d or \u201cbeing on the same wavelenght\u201d\u2026 that is to say, what is behind any\u00a0collaboration brews<\/em>, where two breweries choose each other to give birth to a common creation.<\/p>\n

This is our mood today,\u00a0 as we are here in Borgorose to brew our firts beer with\u00a0Brewdog<\/strong>! Our brewer Andrea is working with\u00a0Graeme Wallace<\/strong>, who came here yesterday to join us for the\u00a0BdB Day Party. We are brewing a\u00a0very special beer:<\/strong>\u00a0ReAle<\/a>! Sure enough, it will be a very special edition of our old favourite, that for this special occasion\u2026 will wear\u00a0the kilt<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s brew is also the \u201cpilot brew\u201d\u00a0for a brand new project by Birra del Borgo,<\/strong>\u00a0answering the question\u00a0\u201cwhat if ReAle was born in\u2026?\u201d<\/em>. In special occasion \u2013 like this one \u2013 we will brew an alternative version of our\u00a0ReAle<\/strong>, immagining how it could have been if it was born in another place in the world. We will determine ingredients or tecniques in consequence and we will\u00a0\u201cdress it up\u201d every time in a different way<\/strong>, always leaving easily recognizable the original style.<\/p>\n

In this case, of course, we started from\u00a0Scotland.<\/strong>\u00a0We changed something in the recipe of our full-bodied, intensely hopped Pale Ale to let it taste more \u201cScottish-style\u201d. Just don\u2019t expect something too traditional, as we are talking about\u00a0Brewdog<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

We added to the usual malts we use for ReAle the\u00a0Pale Ale Marris Otter<\/strong>\u00a0(one of the finest English barley malts) and a\u00a0peat-smoked malt<\/strong>\u00a0(the one they usually use to make Whisky) and we used a Scottish yeast. Also fermentation and ageing will have a Scottish twist, as after the first three days\u00a0we will put the beer into the wooden vats\u00a0<\/strong>just to add some more smoked flavour.<\/p>\n
