Nope, we are not gone mad. We too, we hate Mondays usually , but today it’s different!
Here in Italy Spring has come though it’s raining somewhere, today, but hey!, we have our brand new summer Ale Stelle&Strisce out, so let’s pretend Summer is closer then ever.
Moreover, lot of nice and exciting stuff is going on this week and today, particularly, so once in a while let’s enjoy a good Monday!
What are we talking about? Well, let’s see it.
Today, two special events will happen in Italy: the first is in Milan, where the second edition of the chef and pizza makers trading cards album by Italia Squisita – a charity project for the Bertini Foundation – will be presented during a special evening featuring Italy’s best pizzas along our beers and more.
The second will take place some kilometers away from Rome, at Taberna, where many great brewers and friends will gather to celebrate Mondobirra‘s 10th Anniversary. This website played an important role in witnessing and spreading the Italian Craft Beer movement‘s growth, so we couldn’t have missed the event! Moreover, Kuaska – the maximum beer-expert in Italy – will tell about Italian craft beer history and will show some unreleased pictures so…. we’ll keep our eyes wide open!
But today’s event we are more excited about is the following: we are going to dress up for the official presentation on the Joan of Art: Towards a Free Education project at MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome.
What has craft beer to share with Contemporary Art? Well, here at Birra del Borgo we think that there is a lot, as you can see from our Beering Art project, but now there is more. Beside giving our beers for openings and events at MACRO, this time our bottles become an integral part of the artistic and educational project created by Mike Watson together with Donatella Giordanofor the Nomas Foundation program.
During the opening of the Hidetoshi Nagasawa and Sam Durant’s exhibits, the Infobar created by Mike Watson and Andrew Rutt will distribute the purpose-made beer bottles by Birra del Borgo. On the beer labels, visitors will find sections of emblematic phrases about education’s prominent role. The phrases will be completed only by tracking down the bottle carrying the second part of the phrase quoted on one’s bottle, thus creating a moment for sharing and exchanging their own opinions about the phrase. The labels will be displayed during the following days in the Area space of MACRO. The Information bar also is an online place, that people can access through the QR Code on the label and where they can leave comments.
We are enthusiast of the project, since craft beer – already having a high socializing value in itself – here becomes not only a drink to be consumed but also plays a primary role in making people meet, share and interact, and it becomes an artistic object, too.
Tonight’s event will also be the occasion to officially launch our brand new 0,33 litre bottle, specially designed and realized together with O-I, the world’s leading glass-packaging maker. We wanted to recreate our unique and unmistakable 0,75 litre bottle’s shape, but also to make a step further towards sustainabilty and environmental care. The new bottles created by O-I in an uvag-plus green color will let us reduce of about 30% the overall weight, thus saving about 120 glass tonnes per year.
And by the way, we love the way they look! Don’t you agree with us?
