Brand new year… brand new (Bizzarra) beer! Just like we do every year since a while, also in 2013 we will present the new calendar for our most experimental and peculiar beers, one for each month of the year. As usual, we will introduce some new beer – or some old beer we go back in love for – and we will say goodbye (at least for this year!) to some other.
As we wait to upload the whole 2013 Bizzarre’s Calendar, we start telling you something about Prunus, January’s Bizzarra, where cherries have been added!
Actually, Prunus is so called after the cherry’s bothanical name, Prunus Avium or Cerasus according to variety. About 20% of fresh cherries with their stones were added to our spelt beer Duchessa . Differently from the typical Belgian kriek, it is not too sour as it keeps some of the Duchessa’s smoothness. Yet it’s not sugary indeed, thanks to the well balanced bitter aftertaste.
With its 5.8% ABV and its bright red color, Prunus is the perfect choice to start celebrating the New Year… and never stop for the following 12 months!
